French is the language of love, and it's also one of the most popular languages in the world. If you're looking for a new career, consider becoming a French teacher! Teaching this beautiful language can be very rewarding on many levels. Of course, there are some important things to know before you start teaching French or any other languages. That's why I've written up these 7 tips that will help get your teaching off to a great start!

Learn the language yourself first!

Don't get me wrong, but knowing how to speak any language doesn't mean that you are an expert - you must know the language fully to teach it. You will be expected to know the language better than your students and you must set a good example for them. If you don't do this, they won't take learning French seriously!

Research all of the material before teaching it

The best way to learn how to teach is by studying first - just like with any other job or profession. Once you've learned everything thoroughly then start looking into different methods and techniques that work well for YOU as an instructor because we're all unique individuals! Find what works well for YOU and implement those strategies in every single class!

Practice what you're teaching

Knowledge is power - use it to your advantage. Make sure you research the best ways to teach French and practice each technique before teaching students so that everything comes naturally when they are in class!

Make sure to use visuals and gestures to help your students learn

There are many different ways to teach a language and each method uses visuals, gestures or both. If this is not something that you're comfortable with then look into learning about other methods! Practice in front of the mirror if necessary because nobody likes teachers who can't communicate clearly with their hands.

Know how to pronounce every word correctly

No matter what method you use, no one will learn anything if the teacher doesn't know how to pronounce words clearly. If you don't know how to do this then practice saying things over and over again until it becomes second nature.

Use repetition and practice as often as possible

Repetition and practice are key to mastering any skills, language included. If you want your students to learn everything then make sure they hear it over and over again. It's also a good idea for them to write down new words so that they can look at their notes during class or review when studying at home!

Practice on Duolingo with your students

Duolingo is an app that has helped many people learn different languages. It's completely free and it allows you to "gamify" learning - making studying fun! You can also use it with your students in class if they want extra practice at home or on the go!

Stay organised

It's very important for any language teacher to stay organised, especially if you have more than one student or classes per day. You must plan ahead by making lesson plans (even if they're just outlines) beforehand because this will help keep things running smoothly instead of having last minute scrambles which can be stressful for both yourself and your students. Be prepared at all times; otherwise, learning French could end up becoming chaotic rather quickly!

Conclusion

French is a beautiful language, but teaching French isn't for everyone. If this sounds like something you'd be interested in then start looking into how to become a French teacher today! Good luck!

Try TUTOROO. It's a marketplace that pairs people who can tutor with those who need them. They need more online and in-person French teachers who are available on a part-time basis. To discover students, simply create a profile on their website (link: https://www.tutoroo.co/signup-as-a-private-language-tutor). Based on your skills and expertise, you can choose your own schedule and hourly fee. To find out more, go to their website. I really do hope this information is useful.
