Whether you would like to get by in France, improve your accent, or become totally fluent, I have the course for you. You can choose between one-to-one, couples or small group lessons - an increasing number of people are opting for group classes, as it not only keeps costs down, but they would rather learn with a friend or within a friendly group environment.
Please note conversation lessons are specifically designed for lower-intermediate (B1) to advanced students (C1).
Beginners have to learn the basics before that, so their lessons need to be a bit different but they are more than welcome to take either one-to-one or group classes as well.
The core of the lessons will be based on my flagship course Parlez Français - level 1 is also available for purchase HERE if you prefer to study by yourself, or if you need to keep costs down.
If you are interested in group tuition, please send your name and contact details as well as your current level of French and I will let you know when enough people are available – ideally between 3 and 4 per group.
If you have learning difficulties, don't let this deter you! I have successfully coached people with severe dyslexia and ADHD and I believe there is a solution for everyone - from a shorter lesson time to a different leaning style (ie some people can only learn by listening, others opt for two 30-minute sessions per week).

It is when I hear something in French and understand some/most of it that I realise I have learnt a lot more than I did to start with. |
The lessons are always enjoyable. I like your approach, the evening has a social element too, which is nice and, in fact, very important to me. You pace the lessons very well, especially considering it is not 1-on-1. And there is always a nice mix of "topics" in each lesson. |

Frequently Asked Questions
15 How long will it take me to become fluent?
A. It depends on how much time you can devote to it. I recommend you study at least 15 minutes a day, more if you can. The ideal situation is, of course, total immersion in France but if that’s not possible, you need to recreate those conditions at home – watch French films and YouTube videos, listen to French podcasts, read French books, etc.
Q. Do I need to do anything between lessons?
A. Yes. If you only rely on your 1 hour a week only, you will get nowhere. I recommend you go over everything we do again and again, even if it’s just 10 minutes here and there. Be prepared to memorise it, too.
My YouTube videos are designed to help you revise effectively. You can find them HERE.
Q. Will you give me homework?
A. If you like, but if you follow the above recommendations, you shouldn’t need extra homework. As every lesson builds on to the previous one, you will need to know each one well before you can make any worthwhile progress.
Q. I have this app/book/audio method I like, can I use it?
A. Absolutely. The more you do, the better. It’s always a good idea to vary your sources of French information, so you can get used to different voices, styles and accents.
Q. Are there any tricks to learn quicker?
A. I find it very effective to revise just before bed. Sleep helps consolidate what you have just learnt. Plus, the 15-minutes a day works really well for me (that’s how I am learning Spanish at the moment).
Q. What is your teaching method?
A. It is based on learning the top 20% of the language you will use 80% of the time. I will get you used to speaking from day 1. Each lesson is structured around speaking, listening, and reading (writing only for those who need it, for instance business French students) and you will learn at your own pace.
Q. What if I have learning difficulties or special needs?
A. It’s not a problem – I can accommodate your specific circumstances, as long as you (or they) have the drive to learn!
Q. Can I see you and have a chat before committing?
A. Of course. You can visit if you are local, or we can have a 30-minute no-obligation chat and a trial lesson over Zoom for £1.
